BRIAN MALONEY

SOLOIST AT THE ROYAL BALLET LONDON

was born in the United States and was raised in California. He trained with the Kirov Academy of Ballet beginning at the age of thirteen.
He joined The Royal Ballet in the 2000/2001 Season as an Artist at the age of 20, was promoted to First Artist in 2002 and to Soloist in September 2003.

His repertory with The Royal Ballet includes Hans Peter/The Nutcracker in Peter Wright’s production of The Nutcracker, Pas de trois in Anthony Dowell’s Swan Lake, Head Fakir and Bronze Idol in Natalia Makarova’s La Bayadère, William Forsythe’s The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Nacho Duato’s Por Vos Muero, The Gypsy in Mats Ek’s Carmen, Bratfisch in Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling, Lescaut in Manon, a workman in The Judas Tree, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Glen Tetley’s Voluntaries, William Meath Baxter in Frederick Ashton’s Enigma Variations, the Pas de trois in Ashton’s Les Rendezvous and Eros in Sylvia, as Gurn in Johan Kobborg’s production of August Bournonville’s La Sylphide, as the Country Boy in Andrée Howard’s La Fête étrange, the lead boy in the Pas de six from Giselle and Bluebird in the Monica Mason and Christopher Newton production of The Sleeping Beauty.

He has created roles in Cathy Marston’s Three Words Unpsoken (2001), Alastair Marriott’s Grey Garden (2002), Christopher Wheeldon’s Tryst (2002), David Bintley’s Les Saisons (2003) and Matjash Mrozewski’s Castle Nowhere (2006).
